When I first joined Time Inc., the team responsible for creating Capital Acumen was creating each issue, quarterly, ground-up; expending a massive amount of energy on production for the website, an iPad application and a printed version of the publication. After a single issue, I knew it was time to change our approach.
I introduced ideas surrounding development of a modular CMS, allowing for different components to be stacked and leveraged to achieve different layouts. I was responsible for spec'ing the CMS for technical requirements, allowable formats/uses, and determining what kind of 'flex' the modules needed, and under which circumstances/logic. Within two releases, I was able to turn this team into a well oiled machine, internally and Client-side, serving as Production leadership for Time Inc., and for our Capital Acumen Client team with their internal IT group.
